Hello and welcome to my practice!
My name is Marit, and I am a registered Counselling Psychologist. I have had the privilege to be a therapist for over 10 years, during which time I have gained extensive experience working with adolescents and adults. I feel strongly about the power of therapy, which includes the healing and growth process that unfolds. My role is to navigate my client through life’s challenges thus enhancing overall wellbeing and self-worth.
I also enjoy guiding adolescents with the challenging task of choosing subjects in Grade 9,
and assisting Grade 12s or young adults with career guidance uncertainties.
I bring a wealth of experience from both the public and private sectors, having worked in a variety of settings, including children’s homes, university student counselling centres, substance abuse treatment facilities, schools at all levels, sub-acute and private hospitals, and with NGOs. I have over 10 years of experience practicing play therapy with children, as well as extensive expertise in parental guidance. My professional background also includes delivering presentations at schools, universities, companies, and private organisations. Additionally, I have conducted a wide range of psychometric assessments, including cognitive assessments and providing recommendations for accommodations.

For adolescents younger than
18 years old.
I see the parent/s or guardian/s for an intake session, the adolescent for 3 sessions, and then a feedback session with the parent/s or guardian/s. Thereafter, the therapy path is agreed upon collectively between me, the parent/s or guardian/s, and the adolescent.

For adults 18 years
and older.
You are welcome to make an appointment, and during the initial session, we then explore the options of a therapy path together.

03.
For students or young adults in need
of subjects or career guidance.
This package includes a 5-hour assessment at my practice, an extensive report (printed and emailed), and a 1-hour feedback session with the parent/s and adolescent/young adult.
